Some crafty ideas for gifts for the Holidays

For this Holiday season, you’ll find a lot of people on very tight budgets.  You might be one of them.  Families with small children in particular have been on a budget all year long.  Most people in this situation look for alternatives for gifts during the Holidays.  It’s time to use your imagination and get crafty.  This article will help families with children.

Is your family an arts and crafts kind of family?  If so, you’ll probably have all the supplies on hand to make some homemade gifts.  Maybe you’re not.  Don’t despair because these supplies won’t break any budget as they are fairly cheap to buy at a discount store or an arts and crafts store.  Don’t forget to look for coupons. You’ll need to get scissors, glitter, colored pencils, crayons, markers, glitter glue pens, pictures, construction paper, heavy card stock,  glue, hole puncher, and yarn.

gifts for book loversConstructing book marks for friends and family member is an excellent idea.  They do not have to be book lovers to enjoy it.  However, they make excellent gifts for book lovers.  You don’t need to spend lots of money on ereaders like the border’s kobo and kobo covers.  Book marks are easy to construct and kids love to decorate them.  Bring out those colored pencils, markers, and crayons, and let the children draw their favorite animals, activities, etc.  With scissors you can finely shape the book mark into something else like a Christmas tree. Alternatively, you can attach a tassel.  You make it out of yarn and thread it through the hole on top that you’ve made via hole puncher.

Book marks aren’t the only items that is easy to create.  You can also make Christmas ornaments as gifts.  The basic layout starts off with heavy card stock and glue.  You need some family photos that you can cut up or magazines to make a collage of picutres.  You glue them together.  After it’s dry you can decorate with markers and such to make it look pretty.  Then you’ll need to punch a hole in the top with your hole puncher and thread the hole with some yarn so it hangs nicely from the tree.
