Each company will have a different system of tools in place that will allow an analyst do their job well. Retail business intelligence, as well as other types of intelligence generally require several of the same basic skills. SQL knowledge, and a working knowledge of Excel are two of these skills. Additionally, knowing how to write scripts is advantageous, as it aids in data retrieval. This not only includes their direct actions, but also requires the ability to think out of the box, and put oneself in the customer’s thinking position.
