Recruiters go through several interviews a day, and there are things that they wish they could tell you so you can improve next time. Here are some specific examples that were compiled by the JobFox scam team:
- “I’m normal.” We get it. This could be the job of your dreams and it can change your life forever if you get the job. Putting unnecessary pressure on yourself makes you even more nervous and weakens your ability to respond confidently. Your interviewer is a normal person, so you should be able to establish a comfortable conversation and not a cross-examination.
- “I look at everything.” Interviewees who breeze through the office at 10:10 when the interview is at 10:00 already shows me a lack of reliability. A person who is rude to the receptionist can be a warning that he would be difficult to work with. Remember that every single thing is evaluated, and that goes beyond just your skills but includes your ability to relate well with people and how you will be able to fit in their work culture.
- “I know you’re not perfect.” This is one of the most common scenarios an interviewer could ever experience. When asked about their weakness, they take a very long time before they respond, or they say that they don’t have any. Recruiters see through this. The only reason they’re asking you that question is to be able to assess how well you know your capabilities and yourself, and how you strive to be better at what you do. If they needed perfect employees, they would just have hired a robot.
Keeping these things in mind will help you understand that an interview should be able to flow easily. Remember, your recruiter was once an applicant himself, so you don’t have to pretend to be anyone you’re not.
