$200 Laptops For College

So you’re looking for a new laptop? Great, where do I start is the next question. When trying to sort through all of the cheap laptops for college students it’s important to keep some things in mind. This applies whether you’re spending $1000 or looking for one of the latest $200 laptops that have become so popular. Lets look at a few things each laptop should have.

Have you ever typed on a keyboard and it just didn’t feel right? When you have a desktop it’s as simple as picking up a new keyboard, but if your laptop keyboard feels odd you’re stuck with it. That’s why it’s so important to head to a local Best Buy and try out some of the keyboard on the various laptops. You may find you don’t like Toshiba or Dell keyboards which will help you find the right laptop online.

Stay away from Vista and try to get a laptop with any version of Windows 7. The exception to that is the Starter Edition which usually only comes on netbooks. It’s still better than Vista, but is missing some key features that I personally like and use often enough that it’s worth the extra effort to avoid it.

Protecting you laptop is probably one of the most important things outside of backing up the data on it. Luckily it’s much easier to protect your laptop from damage than it is to setup a data backup system. Grabbing a laptop bag or even a laptop computer backpack is all it takes.

You can spend any amount of money on a laptop, but you really don’t need to spend much over $500 dollars to get yourself a great and reliable laptop. Like I mentioned above, I’d spend more time working on protecting and backing up the laptop than worrying much about which laptop you get. Most people are just happy to have a laptop at all.
