What’s In Your Diaper Bag? Well, that may depend on the size of your bag. There are certainly necessary items, and then some extras you may carry if your bag permits. I present to you my list for small, regular size and extra roomy bags.
Small Bags
There are plenty of times when you are going on a short outing, or you simply don’t want to carry a lot of stuff around. Kalencom diaper bags are great for this, if you get the 5 piece tote, because it comes with a smaller zippered bag for just such outings.
Here is a list of necessities, if you’re taking a smaller bag:
Diapers Since we use cloth diapers–fuzzibunz diapers–we carry one extra cover and 2 or 3 spare inserts.
Diaper wipes.
If using cloth wipes, you’ll need wipe spray. If disposables, you won’t.
A burp cloth.
Small changing pad. Perhaps a roll-up one would work. If you can’t fit one in the small bag, I suggest a receiving blanket.
One change of socks, shirt and pants.
That about does it for the bare necessities.
Regular Size Bag
For this, put everything you would put int he smaller size bag. You could probably bring another diaper cover (if using cloth) and a few more prefolds or inserts.
Changing Pad. Many diaper bags include a changing pad in them.
You can fit more changes of clothing in the regular size bag. We usually keep extra socks, shirts and pants in there all the time.
A few toys or books are always handy to keep your baby occupied.
Diaper cream, lotion and even sunblock is good to have.
We always keep an extra blanket, even if it’s a smaller one.
If it’s colder weather, have an extra hat, sweater and/or mittens.
I would also keep a sun hat in there–something with a brim to block the sun.
Extra Roomy Bag
If you’re going to be on a longer outing, you can fit more books,or toys.
You may even want to bring a magazine or book to occupy yourself.
I would also put a small snack in there, along with a sippy cup, and a bootle of water for yourself.
Of course, what’s in your diaper bag depends on your baby’s needs, as well as yours. It also depends on how long an outing you might be on, or where you are going.
