Being health-conscious means making sure that one has a balanced diet. This means having an abundance of fruits in one’s diet. Consuming more fruit is certainly a delicious way of getting all of those necessary vitamins and minerals, as well as of satisfying one’s sweet tooth. Fruits are a great substitute for ordinary sweets and cakes. They can be fantastic additions to these treats, as well.
On the other hand, some people prefer to consume their fruit in liquid form. Fresh fruit juices are refreshing and delicious alternatives to sodas and other sugary drinks. Just because they’re made from fresh fruits doesn’t mean that it’s okay to drink as much as one can take, though. Fruit juices still contain a lot of sugars. While it is true that these are natural fruit sugars, these are nonetheless absorbed quite quickly by the body. As such, if one’s goal is to lose weight, drinking too much fruit juice can slow this down.
On the other hand, smoothies, which usually retain a lot of the fiber from the fruits, still contain the same nutrients without being absorbed too quickly into the system. Smoothie drinkers may therefore find that their cravings are curbed more effectively and they feel full for longer periods of time. Fresh fruit smoothies may therefore be a better choice for those who would like to lose more weight, as well as those who need more fiber in their diets.
This doesn’t mean that one should give up completely on fruit juices, though. There are times when a smoothie might be a bit too heavy and juice will still win it out as the drink of choice. If one would like to avoid taking in too much sugar, one can simply mix fruit and vegetable juices. One just has to make sure that the juicer machine available is specially-made to process both. If one has a wheatgrass juicer, then one can also take advantage of the many benefits provided by mixing fruit juice with that of leafy greens or wheatgrass. Now that should make for a truly satisfying and nutritious drink!
