Amongst all the various classes in World of Warcraft, the mage might be the hardest class to level up. It requires constant focus with spell management, not to mention that you’d have to keep track of your Mana as much as you track your HP. In the early stages, leveling up a mage is like a dance of dodging, tactics, placement and spell management. Mages start off very flimsy and fragile, can easily be killed with two or three strikes from a baby bear cub and can take forever to cast its spells. This predicament leads you to be more conscious with your engagements and spell rotations.
In order to survive and level up from the early stages, you’ll need to utilize the maximum casting range for your spells. This way the mobs that you are engaging will take as much time to get to you while you try to kill them. You’ll have more help during level 4 when you learn the Frost Bolt spell that you can pair with your first offensive spell which is Fireball. By that time, you’ll also have two passive spells that can help with your damage and survivability.
This is where you can thoroughly utilize proper spell rotation. It is still recommended to engage at max range since you’d still be as fragile as you were and your spells still take some time to cast. Engaging with Frost Bolt first is essential since it can slows a mob down in order for you to get of a few Fireballs while it is being slowed. Most of the time, you can finish 6-7 level mobs with that spell rotations. Furthermore to the higher levels you’ll be able to conjure your own water and food which is very advantageous for leveling since you won’t have to get back to the vendors a lot to replenish your Mana and HP.
It is also important for mages to loot especially when you are playing your first character at a new server or if your character is not an alternative. Money is hard to come by when you are a mage because mages need to spend for proper armor, weapons and such. So, loot as much as you can and invest at a bigger bag. During the higher levels from 10-20, leveling will be quite easier when you will be able to handle more than one mob with the Polymorph spell which transforms a mob into a sheep. You can get through level 20 easily with proper spell rotation while stacking up on the right spells and stats.

A mind-boggling array of improvements in graphics, gameplay, networking, and interface–really every category–makes this game the crown prince of the genre, a great starting place for newbies, and a challenge to any other MMORPG currently in the works. The game’s beautifully rendered locations are filled with small details, such as flying birds and flowing water. A History of Conflict
WoW takes place just four years after the real-time strategy Warcraft series, which chronicles a 25 year struggle between the Alliance (humans, dwarves, gnomes, and elves) and the Horde (orcs, tauren, trolls, and undead).
