Discover Why People Faint

Syncope is the technical term of fainting, which is the state of the consciousness’ temporary loss. However, loosing consciousness is of course common to us already. We have observed numerous people suddenly drop on their knees then slowly became unconscious in the midst of a certain circumstance.

If you are a curious type person, then you must have asked yourself, “Why do people faint?”, because we see a lot of people who suddenly faints without any reasons at all. Nevertheless, some individuals will faint upon receiving extremely bad news or at times when loved ones suddenly die. Others also faint upon experiencing an intense pain, or when anxiety attack occurs. And the most famous one is when people see blood, especially when it came from their own bodies. But again, what’s the reason behind fainting?

According to researchers & scientists, fainting is an effect of the lack of oxygen supply and as well as blood flow towards the brain caused by various conditions like those stated previously. Due to those certain conditions, in effect it causes some changes in the rhythm of the heart. Tachycardia or the fast beating of the heart is its number one effect caused by events like anxiety & panic attacks. In this case, the distribution of blood throughout the body is lessen specifically the brain, due to the rapid heart beating which then lessens the time for blood to fill it. As a result, the person then experiencing tachycardia will faint.

Nonetheless, there is also another alteration of the heart rhythm and it is called bradycardia which means the slowing of the heart beat where it decreases its function to pump blood.  In effect to this condition, the amount of oxygen and blood delivered to the brain will be lessened and may result to a state called vasovagal syncope. This condition happens when the blood pressure suddenly drops due to the chemicals acetylcholine and adrenaline’s imbalance. As these two chemicals are responsible for the control of pressure of the blood, an imbalance of this will lead to syncope or fainting.

In conclusion, this two major reaction are the basic explanation unto why people faint. For some people, they experience fainting with no specific reason at all. However, generally speaking the main reason for fainting is due to the sudden drop of blood flow to the brain which also includes the inability of the heart to pump the blood appropriately.
