The Fender Relic is a high end, good quality guitar with a look and feel as if it was originally made in the late ’50′s. Fender, noticing the demand for vintage guitars, decided to make replicas of some of their earlier lines of guitar and give them an aged appearance. These guitars are actual replicas, oftentimes made from the same materials and in the same manner as the originals. Thus if you buy one, you can end up with a guitar that sounds and feels as good as the original, but at a fraction of the price.
Both the Fender Telecaster Relic and the Stratocaster Relic have been deliberately aged to make them appear like a vintage guitar. They are made from solid wood, thus anything done cosmetically to age the guitars does not harm their performance in any way.
The fingerboard is often worn and scratched, tuning keys look like they have been well used, there are some scratches on the body of the guitar and in places it has been sanded to show the wood grain underneath. Even with these cosmetic modifications, the guitars perform brilliantly.
The selection of Fender guitars played by musicians in the 1950′s and 1960′s are legendary. Actually purchasing one of these vintage guitars is well outside of most people’s budget. However today, you can own a replica guitar at a fraction of the cost, that for all purposes actually performs almost as well as the original did. These aged guitars look great and sound great.
