The dining room table has always been a center of artistic activity in my home, just as it was when I was young and living in my parent’s house. I can remember being ten years old, sitting at the head of the maple-wood dining table and sewing away on my Mother’s Elna.
Some People Still Eat at the Table…
As a sewing machine table, the elongated rectangle (or oval) shape is the right match. Today, my sewing machine sits on the edge of a long side of my dining table which is large enough for the bulk of a quilt – my major sewing activity. It also has plenty of room for accessories so I’m not constantly getting up and down. To the side of my chair is a TV table for a mini ironing station. I can cheerfully sew for hours with this arrangement.
