Have you ever been on an vacation where everything was going fine until you realized you forgot bathing suit? Maybe you forgot your coat, your favorite fishing pole, or your ski goggles. Whatever it was, your vacation could have been a lot better if you had that one thing!
I have found myself in this situation too many times, such as when I stayed at Iron River Hotels in Iron County Michigan. This was such an amazing and gorgeous outdoor destination that provided all of my favorite activities like hiking, fishing, skiing, swimming, and golfing. It was such a disappointment when I noticed that I forgot a fishing pole and my bathing suit at the greatest outdoor vacation spot ever! I decided to solve this planning problem once and for all! I came up with a simple system to plan my vacations so I am 100% as prepared as I can be. I haven’t had any problems since using it!
On a piece of paper, write down vertically all the activities you plan to do on your vacation each on a separate line. This included places you will visit, or activities you plan on doing. Examples of activities include, golfing, fishing, skiing, hiking, swimming etc. Places could be relatives you intend to see, tourist destinations you plan to visit, etc.
Next, across the top of the paper, write down all the categories that require items you need to plan for or bring. Categories can include, clothing/attire, meals/snacks, special supplies, location, cost, date and time of the activity, etc.
After doing this you will see that it forms a matrix ( a table) for you to fill in the content for each activity. Doing this on an excel document makes it for easier formatting and editing purposes. You can also save the document to use for the next time you plan your vacation. This has been an effective way for me to plan and make sure I don’t forget that one item that I don’t want to be without! Next time I visit Michigan Hotels I will be so prepared!
