Two lovely sister ships, the Constitution and the Independence, operated by American Hawaii Cruises board passengers every Saturday near the Aloha Tower in Honolulu and sail just after dark. The Constitution cruises by Molokai, Lanai, and docks at Hilo and Kona on the big island, at Kahului on Maui, and Nawiliwili on Kauai, arriving back at Honolulu on Saturday morning. The Independence makes the same voyage in reverse order.

A century ago, the four-masted square rigger made the run from San Francisco to Hilo on the Big Island. Now restored and under the wing of the Bishop Museum, she is a thing of beauty. Her stern and toprigging speak of an era sadly past.
The restored vessel Carhaginian Two is the only reminder of what the harbors around the Hawaiian islands must have been like once in the past, when sailors often spent the night in the old jail. An old story has it that a sailor brought a box of mosquitoes in one of the harbor in Lahania, in retribution for his incarceration.
