Designing a Kitchen Floor Plan

The wiring for a kitchen can get very expensive. This is the location in a home where the largest wire is installed. When making plans for a home’s construction, it is very important to put some thought into where the electricity enters the home in regards to any kitchen floor plan. It is in the kitchen where the majority of outlets, electrical switches, and appliances will be located for the house. To stay within a budget, it is necessary to consider the electrical wiring at every step in the process.

If the kitchen has been planned to be located at the opposite end of the home from the electrical drop enters, then large wires will need to be installed and then travel that distance. Water heater wires, range wires and other wires that have a rating for high output will be needed in the kitchen area. Wire is extremely expensive and as the wire gets larger, it also gets more expensive. Wires are made of copper metal and the cost for copper remains high and it will continue to get even higher with inflation. One interesting point is that when the price for copper goes up, the value of any copper in the home will also rise. The wire used in a house can therefore be considered an investment made in copper which will ultimately increase a home’s value, provided that other factors remain constant.

Although it is true that copper wire can be considered an investment, it can also put a project out of the range of its budget. When planning a home construction or kitchen remodeling project, the specific area for the kitchen is often a very important factor that needs to be considered. If at all possible, a kitchen should be situated close to where the electricity comes into the home with a fuse box located close by. If a home is being planned and built, the planning should be completed and all the necessary electrical wire purchased just as soon as possible because the longer it is delayed, the more the price for copper can increase with inflation which putts additional strain on the budget.
