The Titan brand of tankless water heaters has provided us with a new way of looking at providing hot water to the home and office. For a long time, we’ve only had one option for heating water: constantly storing heated water in a large tank, ready to be delivered to any point of use in the building. While this is an amazingly effective method, it’s also extremely wasteful of energy. Combine this with the fact that, now more than ever, people are worried about being eco-friendly, and you can see that the situation is ripe for a little bit of innovation.
When it comes to water heating, this innovation comes in the form of a tankless water heater. This kind of water heater does not constantly use natural gas in the process of heating, preferring only to keep the water as it is needed and only in the amounts that are required. This cuts down dramatically on wasted energy and (perhaps more practically) on wasted money every time you pay your utility bills.
Although there are a few competitors in the tankless water heater market, the Titan brand is currently the big name. The Titan devices work through a cleverly designed a circuit board which detects when a certain point of use has been turned on in the house. Once this need for hot water has been detected, the Titan tank was water heater begins to pull water through its heating element and then out to the sink, hot water dispensers, shower, or wherever else it’s required.
For the most part, people have reported great success with this new method of water heating. However, others have been let down. Ultimately, this comes down to each family’s unique situation. For larger families, the problem can come down to not enough heated water being delivered to many simultaneous points of use in the home. Most of the time, this can be solved by purchasing more than one thankless heater. Again, this is going to come down to how many people are in your family that are likely to be hot water at the same time.
Another issue is budget. Although Titan water heaters do have reduction of utility bills as one of their main features, the cost of the units themselves can sometimes be very prohibitive to people on a limited budget. If the unit malfunctions in any way, it can be much harder for the unit to pay for itself than if it had worked properly in the first place. This is why it’s important to do your homework: find a friend or coworker who already uses a tankless water heater (whether it’s the Titan unit or otherwise) to give it a test run. There’s nothing better than objective, real-world feedback from other users when it comes to making an informed decision!
