The Development Of The Memory Foam Topper

There was a time not so long ago when nobody seemed to know very much about memory foam. Things have changed since then, particularly because the companies that manufacture memory foam have put a lot of money into promoting and advertising the product, even to the extent of having doctors endorse it. These days, very few people have NOT heard of memory foam.

And then, of course, there is the allure of having a high tech mattress. The story of the way memory foam was invented has grown quite heavily – for example, almost everyone now knows that memory foam was developed by scientists in NASA who were trying to develop a way for astronauts to be able to withstand the pressures of space flight – particularly the take offs and landings, which are the most uncomfortable portions of the flight, due to the very high gravitational forces that the astronauts are subjected to. Naturally, anything developed by NASA

Of course, the next factor states the mattress pads guide is the price – everyone looks at the price. No matter how good a product like memory foam is, people will not buy it unless they feel the price is low enough for them – and for a long time, it was not. Indeed, for a long time, memory foam suffered from terrible sales – partially due to not enough publicity, but also partially due to the ridiculously high price. After all, it only made sense that people refused to pay thousands of dollars for a memory foam mattress – and these were indeed the kinds of prices that one could expect to pay for memory foam back in the early days of the product’s introduction.

These days, however, a lot of things have changed. As mentioned before, the amount of publicity around memory foam has risen – additionally, companies have also begun to search for less cost intensive ways of making memory foam, including making less expensive products – meaning customers can now purchase a memory foam topper, instead of a whole mattress. No surprise that the number of sales are steadily rising, then.
