Taking care of your skin is important. It’s mostly about appearances because everyone sees your face and skin first and foremost. Skin care is part of personal hygiene. If you are trying to find the best skin care products for your face, you have to take your skin type into account. If you have oily skin, you’re going to need completely different products from someone else with sensitive skin.
You should use a basic cleanser. Unless you have problems with acne, you should have a mild cleanser that rinses away the oil. There is no need for harsh soaps on your face. Neutrogena makes a great basic foaming cleanser that works well for all skin types, but especially for oily skin. Wash your face in the morning and before bed. Carefully remove any makeup before bed. This may require a good makeup remover to get everything off.
To rinse away any remaining traces of oil on the skin, use an astringent or toner. This can be swabbed across the face and will remove anything the cleanser left behind and clear out the pores. Apple cider vinegar, lemon juice, and witch hazel are all good natural astringents, or you can use a regular one from the store. Some are available as pre-moistened pads, too.
Moisture is important for all skin types, but it can be tricky with oily skin. Many people think oily skin already has plenty of moisture, the oil, but oil isn’t moisture. Oil creates a barrier to keep moisture in, but you need the initial moisture. Also, you should use something other than oil to keep the moisture in because, after all, you’re trying to get rid of the oily look. My favorite moisturizer that is perfect for oily skin is aloe vera. It will not clog your pores. It will add lots of moisture and soothe your skin.
