Life Threads Platinum by Le Prairie perfumes, was launched in 2009 as the third element of a line of fragrances, after Gold and Silver. The second edition, from the following year, will draw inspiration from precious stones.
The fragrances in the metal edition describe the different phases of a personality of a women in particular phases of her life. The bottles in this edition have the same design, and are wrapped in a thread of the color of the corresponding metal.
This Platinum version is a sophisticated fragrance, created to be worn in particular occasions. The official notes are: violet leaves, green notes, jasmine, iris, roses, leather, patchouli, vetiver, oak musk, amber and labdanum.
The first seconds of this perfume are very spicy, with a line of musk and patchouli, accompanied by a mature fruit and green notes. There is also a green layer, with a masculine style, similar to vetiver (it reminds of Chanel Allure for men). In the central phase, the masculine idea is still there, but the fruit in the background is more lively, with more aquatic notes. There are also floral notes between roses and jasmine, but they are not intense enough to prevent the green notes to become dominant, with a dark base of blackberries and violets. After about five hours, towards the final phase, the fragrance feels almost completely spicy, with a layer of dry leather (similar to the one in Gucci perfume for women Flora, also very sophisticated). The base notes are dominated by vetiver and iris, with leather in the very end.
On a general level the perfume has a mature and elegant image, with some nostalgic calls to the style of the eighties, although the notes of blackberries feel fresher than those that were used in those years. In the office it will show a professional image, and for a night use it will be suitable for occasions between formal and semi-informal.
