If you were to talk to most people they want the heat but they don’t won’t to put any logs into the furnace. They want the income but the don’t to put in the long and arduous hours that may cause them to bleed out of both eyeballs. The would rather spend their other eight hours when they’re not working or sleeping mindlessly watching TV. I believe that most people are inherently lazy, that is they’d rather achieve everything and do nothing.
Unfortunately life doesn’t quite work that way. You can only build muscle through creating some resistance. Anything left unchallenged will atrophy and eventually die. Everything in the universe is either growing or dying and there are no in between. Straddling the fence is not a very effective strategy when it comes to managing your life. Any kind of action is better than no action. At least when you take action you’ll quickly discover what’s working and what’s not working.
What would an ocean be if there were no waves? One things for sure we certainly wouldn’t see any surfers. When you move confidently in the direction of your own dreams despite your fear you empower those around you to do the same. As Susan Jeffers says, “feel the fear and do it anyway.”
Life is a bit like a roller coaster in that it’s filled with twists, turns and sharp curves. Sometimes you’ll be up and sometimes you’ll be down but the key is to remain unemotional and know that this too shall pass. When you learn to enjoy the bumps and bruises as much as you enjoy your successes you are on your way to becoming an enlightened human being.
Here’s a quick tip to help you move through whatever situation you deem bad. Take out a sheet of paper and write down at least 10 ways that you are better off because of what has occurred. If you can find one way, you can find two and so on. If you’re unable to find at least 10 ways that you’re better off your not looking deep enough. Remember all of life is good when you change your mind about it.
