Over the years, dirt bikes have certainly come a long way and one with particular achievements is a 125 Kawasaki dirt bike. Kawasaki began their legacy by purchasing a small manufacturing company named Meguro who produced small motorbikes, they then gave this company the job of building their products and the first 125cc motorcycle was produced for off road use in 1963 and was called the “B8M”. This two-stroke dirt bike was lightweight and became an instant success. With Shozo Kawasaki’s insight, the namesake of the Kawasaki brand and original founder of the Kawasaki company, the dirt bikes and motorcycles produced by this company have always had the best qualities and the finest machines available.
After the B8M, the Kawasaki brand produced some short-lived models such as the KM, KE and the KH models which were then released between 1977 and 1981. These bikes could be ridden hard and had all the functionality of previous bikes, but never realized the same success as their initial product produced.
To fix this situation, Kawasaki produced the forerunner for the model that had been such a success. The KMX line offered dirt bikes which were built from 1982 on up through 1990 at which time they were replaced with the well known 125 Kawasaki dirt bike. Their Kawasaki KX 125 showed much success, and became quite popular during the years it was produced; however in 2010 this model was ended.
Kawasaki had a major competitor with the Suzuki brand who was often a little ahead when it came to developing a competitive motorcycle. Every year small improvements were made in the acceleration and speed that these competitive sport bikes were capable of until they finally reached their highest level in the early 2000s.
The new movement with Kawasaki dirt bikes has been toward four-stroke engines. The popular 250cc and 450cc models are often preferred by many riders; there still remains those who are devoted to the 125cc.
