“It wasn’t my fault!!” How often do we hear that?
If you have children then you probably hear it more often than most. Not only do those words come from the mouths of children but are commonly known to be hear coming from adults involved in an accident.
In many cases when something we do not like happened we quickly try and blame it on something or someone else. I know that I too am guilty of stating this sentence that we all to often hear.
Most of us would agree that in the case of an accident the other party is ALWAYS at fault.
So… Who is at Fault?
Let’s figure this out by first defining a word that is too big for my vocabulary. The word is Negligence. In short, negligence that if a person’s careless actions lead to an injury or accident than that person is liable for that accident.
A common form of negligence that I have often seen on road is when a driver deliberately disobeys road sings. Especially when they speed! When a driver is speeding they are disobeying the law because they are driving in excess of the speed limit indicated on the traffic sign.
Now I know every once in a while we all get a little too much lead in our foot, but let’s try to not be overly negligent here people. The point is traffic signs are there for a reason. That reason is to protect us from suffering consequences. I’m not talking about good consequences like, “Oh, good here’s a cookie.” I am talking about bad consequences like, “You’re going to jail because you have taken the lives two innocent people.”
So, let’s pay attention to those traffic signs because if you don’t, you WILL be at fault and nobody wants to hear you say “It wasn’t my fault.”
